Musicians... Old and New Community Group
Aimed really at grouping together musicians of any kind suffering from health problems, confidence issues or people struggling to meet and play with others, covering:: How to get started on various instruments. Basic songwriting discussions. Singing/vocals Tips on confidence or sharing with others Tips for recordings yourself or writing down your songs + more ! : )
This will be something I'll get in the near distant future... can anyone point me in the right direction? One I can play whilst playing guitar of course. I'm sure it will be incredibly hard but I figure, the earlier I get a feel for it the better. It'd be a lovely birthday present or something though..I've no idea.. anyone?

I sort of play harmonica, not great at it and I never do it in public. The only thing you need to be mindful of is the key the Harmonica is in, just in case it doesnt fit. You can get teach yourself Harmonica kits from a variety of places. If you have a Hawkins Bizzare near you, they do one that has a good book to teach with it. Then you may need to get yourself an harmonica strap/holster so you can strum and blow at the same time

thanks baz i'll have a look round. I know it's way too soon to start but I just want a feel for it, if I'm too stressed to play guitar I'll have something else to do

Pentatonic or Diatonic for a folky/indie style Baz? Main influences Neil Young and Bright eyes...going to go for one the next time I get my hands on some money.

Major Pentatonic I reckon, although with the diatonic you have the notes that pull. Depends on the tone of the song, the mood will lend itself one way or t'other.

thing is I'm often going for a powerful / striking route I'm sure I'll have my softer times but now it's going for a strong, grab you by the ears sound. Dunno if that helps.

If its fullness of sound and impact you're after then go Maj Pentatonic, thats the fella that will probably work best

I play the guitar and the harmonica at the same time,..for over 30 years I have done this,..LOL,..just do it!!! Practice,.practice,. practice,..blow in and out for all the notes and chords,..and then depending on how much air you let in,...you can bend notes,..go ahead and wing it!! Have fun,....I have a harmonica in every key,..and I use them when I play guitar,...I have a blast!!

cool I seem to already be able to do some basic stuff ontop of what I'm doing which is still a bit hard to keep in time. Just a case of learning the notes. I got a Hohner marine band in the end 'special 20' version recommended for beginners. Quite pleased with it tbh
