hi, I'm so sorry that happened to you. I totally understand. I don't even try to have relationships. I am just too high maintenance. I think that it's just too much of a leap of faith for most people to be with us for a long time and see us reacting to things they cannot perceive, and not at some point question our sanity. most people are really not capable of that level of empathy. even people I have considered almost saint like have lost patience with my sensitivities. I have given up, I just want to be home alone. The only thing that might work is finding another who experiences the same thing, who won't take my reactions personally.

I think it's best to put this problem on the table from the get-go. it's best to search out a person who doesn't use chemicals as part of their personal preference. I learned that while searching for a babysitter. it's so much easier if you find one who is also sensitive to scents and you don't have to ask them to change for you. someone who is not sensitive can violate your world so easily and not even know it. "oh! I bought a new laundry detergent because it was on sale! I didn't think it smelled very much?" "my cousin came to visit and used Bounce in my dryer, but I didn't use it??"
