Being retired now I have a life of loneliness and regret not knowing why I felt different. The angst felt with body and mind at war is exhausting over a long life. In my earlier years getting help was not possible and I have come late to the party! If you are in your prime - go for it now! I have felt contentment the last couple of years since beginning my journey and embracing the woman I knew that I was. Therapy and hormones are better than depression treatment. I see comments about the world view of this birth defect being hateful. People who don't suffer this can NEVER understand it. Rabble rousers from the gutter press and organised religions are the worst, stirring up public hatred for their own ends. Ignore them. We, as a group, are modern day lepers who seek understanding that can only come from those that truly know what this condition is like. At my age I will not see much change in public acceptance and I must continue to hide from family and society, but to those who are younger do not give up hope - society will change eventually. Just be careful who you trust!
