Hi there I'm new to these boards and although I have posted on another part of this forum I've just come across this bit and I am hoping to find someone else who has or is where I am right now. I'm the mother of an amazing 27 year old daughter who told me two weeks ago that my husband her step dad sexually abused her in her teens. My life has been in turmoil since and I am so confused. I still live with him and believe my daughter and am spending as much time with her as she needs but he's also denying everything and it's hard to believe someone I've loved for 21 years with my future planned with could have done this.

I chose to believe my daughter, and, as far as humanly possible, broke off all communication with my (now-ex) husband. I asked what I could do for her. Her first response was, "DON'T LET HIM IN THE HOUSE"! She could not feel safe if he was in the house. I saw that I had to SHOW her I believe her, because if I really do believe her, I have to believe HE DID IT.

I think the abuser almost ALWAYS denies it!

Reading this post, and it is older dated 2017. I am a mother who learned of my daughter's abuse in 2010 by my then husband (her adoptive father). She is an adult now, and I cannot say enough that I am glad I believed her. Now, with that said, there has been a ton of damage.
If you are still around on the boards I would compassionately like to know what happened for you and your daughter. These betrayals are horrifying and rip the heart and soul apart. Sending my prayers and support, even if you don't read this. Praying for truth for all.
