Gus just goes for the chips. He doesn't eat very many. The few that he eats "satisfies" that salty/crunchy need. He knows there will be pain if he over does it. In Gus' words...for everything that I go through and how little I can eat, I just feel like I should be able to eat what I want just because it tastes good to me! Hard to argue with that. Since he is getting complete nutrition through the TPN, I don't worry too much about the snacks. Now, if he ate a jumbo size bag of chips in one sitting all by himself...that would be another matter all together!
1. Pulse some oats (I have quick oats) in the cuisinart to make oat flour.
2. Moisten the oat flour with olive oil---enough to make it slightly moist (I didn't measure anything)
3. I Add water to give it the consistency of dough.
4. Add seasonings---salt, oregano---I also have some no salt 21 seasoning from Trader Joes. I know you can put whatever herbs you want.
5. Add some shredded parmesan cheese to the dough.
I just made little balls and pressed them down into a pan with olive oil and baked it at 350 for about 45 minutes. These "crackers" taste between goldfish crackers and cheesitz---we were all very surprised. They are pretty good on the crohnie-meter, except I know some can't take the cheese. At least this is something I can put in a bag for him...
