For any daughter who has lost their mother, whether through Death (if it's been one day ago or 40 years ago) or Abandonment, (i.e.-drug abuse, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, etc.) and is working through the grief process. This group provides unconditional support and understanding from women who have also lost their Moms and who truly care.

Sad day

I am having a sad day. I had a visit from a 1st cousin that I grew up with. His dad is my Moms older brother.
Well, my cousin used to be into drugs and says he is an alcoholic and was sober for 2 years/ He decided to "fall off the wagon" while visiting me. This just devastated me and has sent me into a downward spiral.
I had an arguement with him. I dont even want to ever talk to him again. He said it doesnthurt anybody so why am I upset? It hurts me to see him like this, to know that he will probably die by abusing substances or promote an early death from it. After lsoing my Moma nd Sister 9 months ago, I just cant take anymore. I really feel all alone. I know I have my children and grandchildren. Its just that I miss my Mom and sister so much and no one in my family seems to miss them like I do other than my sisters husband I have noo ne to express this grief with, that truly understands me.

I do apprecciate all of you because you do know what it is like to be so sad with out your Moms here.
I am just having a very bad day.

I am so sorry that your having a sad day. I really feel for you. I wished we all at MD lived near each other so we could be there in person. I am here for you and if you need to talk we are hearing. Listening.

I lost my mom ten months ago, and my sister is moving to Florida next year. They wer/are my only family; have a brother I don't speak to for reasons that are too long to go into. Though my siser will, hopefully, be alive, I am saddened thinking I will no longer see her or talk to her ona regular basis. I am single and have no family of my own. I feel for you; no one can replace the women in our lives............

I'm sorry to see that you are having a sad day. I am also sorry for the loss of your sister. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose both my Mother and sister. I don't think I would be able to manage very well. Like Nancy, my sister lives in Florida. She moved there almost nine years ago. Even though I speak to her often, it isn't the same as having her here. My brother also doesn't speak to me. So even though there are the three of us, I am the only one here for my Dad. I constantly worry about him and his health. I am grateful that I still have my Dad here, but I still miss my Mom so much. I hope that you will be feeling better soon. Take care.

Yes, I know how it feels to have my sister living so far away she moved to Kansas the year I moved to Bakerfeild californa (1989) We lived apart but kept in touch through phone and mail and sometimes the internet. She was ill for along time but I never thought it was life threatening I just thought it was chronic.... I dont know but I am glad that I have people here who understand me.

Raquel, I'm so sorry you're having more pain added what you're already enduring. Yes, family can be more enemies than friends sometimes...I've learned that in recent months. I'm so sorry - but I'm glad you feel you have friends here...It truly is a place where one is understood, not criticized but consoled. Let your cousin's problem not add to your own grief.

You have no control over him falling off the wagon. In contrast, Your pain was thrust upon you wihout warning. You had no choice. He is being selfish and insensitve which most addicts are by nature. Take care of you and your immediate family right now. One day you will speak again, but you need to put you first.

Thank you Holly. You are a good friend and you are right. It is his fault, that he uses. I don't need to deal with him right now. I will maybe talk to him again when more time passes.

Heres a big hug for you.

Let him deal with his own problems, You will only get bogged down and you certainly dont need that.
