Motherless Daughters Community Group

For any daughter who has lost their mother, whether through Death (if it's been one day ago or 40 years ago) or Abandonment, (i.e.-drug abuse, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, etc.) and is working through the grief process. This group provides unconditional support and understanding from women who have also lost their Moms and who truly care.

Overwhelmed by grief

I need to vent. I was in a Rite Aid store and looking at the beautiful Christmas cards, I saw one to mother from daughter and I felt such pain that I wanted someone to shoot me. I can't even look at her picture without crying.

I just realized that it is the anniversary to her passing. It will be nine months today.

So many people feel sad this time of year. My mom will be gone one year towmorrow and it hurts. I don't want Christmas - do it for my neice. The anniversarys are tough, the months, the one year. My heart is with you.

It's especially hard to deal with because I am alone and unemployed and on disability. I don't even want to listen to Christmas music, I'm pretty much going to ignore the holidays as much as possible. I shouldnt have been looking at the cards in the store. I thought of sending cards to my remaining relatives but don't know if I can. They don't write to me and I haven't heard from my nephew since Thanksgiving. I found a card wishing Happy Thanksgiving to daughter at home when I was cleaning.

Donna, you are in my thoughts... try to hang in there. I feel the same way when I am looking at cards in the store. Ilike to give cards to people but lately when I come across cards to a mom or sister I just cringe and look away. To tell you the truth, I used to love Christmas and havent really enjoyed it since my divorce because money was always tight but over the years I started having alittle more money and I enjoyed "treating" my Mom to nice things. Her birthday day is coming up and then Christmas, we always gave her a lot of gifts. I will miss doing that.
My oldest daughter Rachel,suggested going to Walgreens and getting a Christmas Tree Angel for an elderly person. These little cards on the tree have a gift request so my daughter wants us to get one in honor of my Mom. I think it is a great idea.

Try to hang in there Donna. I know how you feel with looking at all the Mother Daughter stuff. Just seeing mothers and daughters walking around makes me so sad that I feel like being sick. The painn is unbearable. Big hugs to you
