Motherless Daughters Community Group

For any daughter who has lost their mother, whether through Death (if it's been one day ago or 40 years ago) or Abandonment, (i.e.-drug abuse, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, etc.) and is working through the grief process. This group provides unconditional support and understanding from women who have also lost their Moms and who truly care.

I have been tearing up alot.... I miss my Mom so very much and soon I will be renting my own apartment again and living totally alone!( I live with my oldest daughter and her family right now) I feel like I might be too depressed to be alone? I don't know what to think anymore and I also think, if I start dating again I will make wrong decisions, just so I wont have to be alone anymore!
How do people meet other people these days???? Decent people I mean Trust worthy , honest and Christian???????? I am so confused.
One of the last conversations I had with my Mom was that she was praying for me to meet someone because she didnt want me to be alone but she had been alone since I was 11 and I am 40 now! UGH

Anyway....sorry for carrying on so much...Please Pray for me, not to be so lonely and fall into a depressed state cause when I am alone I cry all the time.

Aw, I am sorry to hear that you feel lonely. Have you ever tried a singles group at your church if you ar trying to meet other Christians??? There are Christian dating services on line too---but who knows they could all be nuts also. Maybe you are better off without men right now, while you are going through this difficult time----sometimes they make it worse. Whatever you decide---I do pray for you to have peace and comfort.

this may sound silly if you're not a pet lover as I am, but maybe you could adopt a shelter dog or cat to keep you company? I am alone, and I know that my animals bring me great comfort as well as companionship. You also have to focus on their needs and not just your own. It probably isn't a good idea to get into a relationship right away as you are very vulnerable right now in your grief and the wrong man could take advantage of that. Give yourself some time and you'll know when it is right. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Dale

I am by myself and yes, it is terribly lonely but then at times I am so thankful because I can just be me and grieve and do what I want or not. I don't have to explain why or what I am doing. I agree about the pet. Our dog had to be put down but I am ready to get myself a SMALL dog soon. I know a dog would be a comfort. They ask nothing from you but food and they give so much love. Karen's advice is great. Join your Church's singles group. If you don't currently have a church, then seek one out. My brother met a girl on match.com and they have been seeing each other now for a year. So those sites do work!

I think that Dale's advice is also excellent. Pets are wonderful. They are easier to maintain than children :) and give so much unconditional love. They won't care if you cry uncontrollably and they'll lick those tears away. I have a maltese (a gift from my Mom) and she is a wonderful source of comfort. (She is by my feet right now. She follows me everywhere.)

Dale's and Holly's advice are fantastic. I have 2 little toto dogs and believe me---there is many a day I just cuddle up to them and lie in bed. They are a great sourcee of not only company, but comfort---which we all need right now. Most of the time the comfort is much more important than just having a body around us. Some bodies are not very comforting. A couple good licks on the face can help melt your broken heart. There are many doggies out there who need adoption and need a mommy so it wouldn't have to cost a lot and you would be taking care of a "motherless dog". You ahve us too---always. I agree about the pets; love my cat so much. And on the dating thing, I don't trust myself right now to not just be with someone who will comfort me; just don't trust my decision making skills right now, which is normal Pets give unconditional love, and are gifts from God.

Sorry to hear you are hurting so much. I agree with getting a pet. I have two dogs and one cat. When I start crying or getting upset they know. They provide so much peace to me, and give so much love back.
