Motherless Daughters Community Group
For any daughter who has lost their mother, whether through Death (if it's been one day ago or 40 years ago) or Abandonment, (i.e.-drug abuse, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, etc.) and is working through the grief process. This group provides unconditional support and understanding from women who have also lost their Moms and who truly care.

My mom died when I was 14 and I didn't have anyone to help me through this. My dad moved on with his life and we never talked about my mom at all. My dad re-married 5 months after my mom died and my step-mother pretty much ignored me. I was devastated and didn't know what to do and had nobody to talk to. I began internalizing all my feelings and emotions and many nights cried myself to sleep. I also became angry and withdrawn. My mom has been gone for 27 years now and I still miss her. Turning 38, the age my mom was when she died, was weird. The thought of being the same age my mom died at was just eerie. Then 39 came and it was as if I had no idea what to do. It was like I was missing my road map. I began questioning what I was doing with my life and where I was headed. This last year has been rough and I am now getting help from a counselor. I have a lot of pain and anger to work through. After all these years I am finally dealing with my issues instead of trying to ignore them.
I am reading the book Motherless Daughters by Hope Edelman and I am realizing that I am not the only one having the feelings I do. I can relate to the stories/comments in the book. I now know that I am not alone and I hoping to find some support/encouragement here and hopefully also help someone else.

I lost my mom when I was 13 to cancer and for the last 9 years I have avoided the whole situation. I don't have any siblings nor do I have other family besides my dad so it's been very difficult for me too. I'm sorry about your dad remarrying so quickly, that must have been very tough. I also read that book recently and found so much strength in it because I finally realized how normal my feelings and behaviors were. I hope you find that as well.
