One of my favorite memories of Halloween was while I was living in an apartment is a small town. I decided to give the kids in the complex a real scare. I put a pole lamp filled with three red light bulbs next to the door and I had a Halloween sound effects record on my console stereo. I dressed as a country ghoul with a full head skeleton mask(you can see it in the photo section), a big straw hat, a pair of bib overalls, long sleeved red flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and a pair of big work boots. To complete the effect, I blackened my arms and hands and had "blood" smeared on them. I even blackened the area around my eyes under the mask. When I heard kids coming, I'd turn the stereo on, and open the door slowly, saying, "Whada ya want?! The first couple of groups didn't seem very impressed or scared so I got discouraged and changed into ordinary clothes. Well, the next group came up and when I answered the door, the kids asked where the scarey guy was. I told them he'd left, but if they'd come back in about 15 minutes, I'd call him to get him back. I got back in costume and sure enough, the kids came back and the rest of the evening saw a steady stream of kids knocking on my door, screaming at the scarey guy.
