We quickly found out that every person you have in the wedding cost money. So since I was graduated from high school but still 17 I was soo underage. The wedding party consisted of the preacher only. We had the car full of my husband to be friends. My "limo" was the Greyhound bus that I rode in to meet him . He was in the Navy at the time. I had never been out of the state of Oregon. No photographer, no cake. But I had a beautiful white dress. My dressing room was in the bathroom at a gas station. I thought at the time that it all was the most wonderful and exciting thing that I had ever done. It really and truly was.

I got married during the heyday of the Carpenters. They had a great song for weddings,,,We've Only Just Begun" I imagine it was sung at a lot of weddings. Mine included. But, we had a second song sung. It was "our" song,,,,"A Part of Your Life". This song was a miracle. I was a disk jockey at a country music station and met my future wife at a meeting set up by my cousin. It was love at first sight for me and talked about the girl on my show the next morning. I wanted to dedicate a song to her, but couldn't find anything I liked,,,until I found A Part of Your Life. It was by Charley Rich. I listened to the first minute of it before I put it on the air,,,,"Sing me your song and I will sing it,,Pray me your prayer and I will pray it,,,,,,,I just want to be a part of your life. I didn't know it but her whole family was listening to the show. Her mother turned to her and asked, "What have you gotten yourself into now? I went to a local record store to get the sheet music for it and the owner said Charley(he knew him) would have come to town to sing it at the wedding if I'd come in a few weeks earlier. It seems it was too late to put it in his schedule.
