Do you have special songs in your life? I blame Charley Rich for getting me married. I was a D.J. at a country music radio station when I met my wife. For morning after I met her I knew she was the one for me. So, the next morning while doing my show, I hunted for a special record to play for her because I knew she was listening. I found a 45 by Charley Rich called "A Part of Your Life". I'd never heard it before, but it seemed to be the right one to play. Boy was it! Little did I know that her whole family was listening to the show and her mother freaked out, asking her what she had gotten herself into. My future wife said she wasn't sure and was a little scared.. You've probably never heard the song. It wasn't a big hit for Charley. In fact, I can't find the lyrics on the internet. We did get the sheet music for it and it was sung at our wedding. We later found out had we contacted Charley about the song, he'd probably come to the church and sang it himself. I love The Carpenters, but I can't listen to their music because theirs was the music of our courtship. One of their songs, "We've Only Just Begun", was also sung at our wedding. And there's a song that I'll turn off when it comes on the radio,,,,Harry Chapin's "Cats in the Cradle" The song is too close to my relationship with my dad. What are the songs of your life?
