i STILL GIGGLE WHEN i REMEMBER MY CAR OVERHEATING. I called a local service station and they said they would send somebody out right away. I was at a local bank waiting and when I saw this guy drive up with uniform with name on pocket, I immediately went over and introduced myself and took him to show him the problem. He went in the bank, got a jug, and filled my radiator with water, then screwed my cap on correctly. when came time to settle payment found he was just some innocent guy on his lunch hour I had dragged over there to work on my car.
So I get to work about 4 p.m.,And the old boss man informed myself and the other boy. That they were starting a new thing called"self serve".
We had never heard of this
.Back then people weren't allowed to touch the pumps ???
We were told that we were going to need our patience,After all the day crew went through.
Boy were they ever right.People cursing, threats,
Down right mean I say !Well with 12 pumps to watch, teach etc.
Not to mention the smart A@@punks.
By 11 at closing,I had had as much as I could put up with.
I just filled up the last older ladies car,I just didn't have the heart to see an old woman trying such a thing.
And before I Could turn everything off,In comes another punk kid.
Fill it up.I tell him .
Your going to have to do it yourself.
Short and snappy he says I CANT !!
So as I was telling him my mind, like I had wanted to do so many time's before.
I Looked down and saw he had no legs.
Had I not left the truck in gear, I could have easily bounced up with little or no scene, but I overlooked that one little thing that prevented the truck from rolling forward, pinning my shoe under the rear wheel. I suppose it was a mixed blessing that my truck rolled into the tail of the Cadillac ahead of me, keeping the three-quarter ton Ford Murderer from crushing my ankle. Since I couldn't free myself from the truck that would soon, be up for sale, I was forced to yell for help. Surely someone, in the very long string of cars behind me, would hear my SOS. I believe it was at that moment when the embarrassment began to manifest itself as a churning in the pit of my stomach.
The feeling continued to have it's way with me as bank tellers ran out to see what had happened. Someone asked me if he should back the truck off me and for that second I was glad to know that someone dumber than me was at the scene. Someone else called 9-1-1, but my leg was free by the time they arrived, so they only had to bill me for plucking me off the asphalt. I refused a generous offer for a ride to the hospital, so the thoughtful, helpful paramedics left me with an ever so helpful tip against running over myself again in the future. I somehow got the feeling I'd be the talk of the fire station that night. A fantasy, yes, but not quite the one I had in mind.
The woman driving the Caddy gave me a puzzled look and asked me what I was thinking as her very young son informed me that no one ever hit their car before and really wanted to know why I did that. Luckily, no damage was done to them or their car and they chose not to press charges. Still, I had yet to face the giggling bank employees to make the cursed deposit. I can't remember ever hating a job more than I did that one, that day.
close call
I had pushed one cart into another cart, and it started speeding away, heading right for a nice car. I had to run full-speed to catch up with it. I started screaming and laughing, trying to catch up with it. I hooked my finger on the side, and the cart kept rolling. As I did this, I somehow got my finger twisted in it, and it hurt alot.
I dropped to my knees, telling my friend that I got hurt. Some old man had seen the whole thing, and yelled, "That's what you get for screwing around on the job." I felt like an idiot.
I thought it was a real fire. I found two wash clothes and cover my privates. Well the door was locked I banged on the door and I heard a voice saying its stuck. SO I ran and used my shoulder to try and knock it open well they opened the door just before I hit the door. Well I slid outside and I saw everyone standing around me taking pictures. I was so embarrassed. People still have pics of me naked
So I took them and my bra off and walked out into the gym. The noise in the gym immediatley stopped, and everyone was staring at me. Then I felt a breeze around my stomach and legs, so I looked down. I was standing there completely nude! I had forgotten to properly tie my toga in the back, so it fell off.
