Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind, Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine. Come here and remember,, the good times and the bad.

When I started working at Pizza Inn as a manager trainee I had to learn certain codes to know what needed to be done whether it was to roll a pizza dough, check out a customer, etc. One of the codes was "check, then a number 1-4. The numbers were the numbers of the 4 brick ovens we used to bake the pizzas. The pizzas were placed in the ovens beginning from front left, then moved down the left to the back; then across the back; then toward the front on the right, making a "U" shape. The finished pizza came out on the front right. Any time a check number was called such as check two, someone would move the pizzas in oven number 2. I got used to them and other codes, but one code, check 5, was a mystery to me. There wasn't a 5th oven. I finally learned that check 5 meant a pretty girl was coming into the restaurant and the cooks would look to the door to see her. I was always too busy to yell a check 5 until one Saturday morning. The manager and I were rolling dough for the buffet before we opened. The roller was right in the front window and a really good looking girl drove up. I told him to check 5 and started describing the the well built girl in really short shorts and a sleeveless blouse tied as high as she could get it. He asked me if I really thought the girl was that special and I emphatically said yes. He said he'd introduce me to her when she came in. It was his wife!
