It looks like crickets are chirping in here because the last post seems to be from a few months ago. I am hoping that I'll post this and at least some of you will see this and respond The last 2-3 years of my life have been life altering and not in a good way. I'd been sick a lot as of around 3 years ago and the symptoms got gradually worse. Everything from joint/muscle pain, persistent and almost daily migraines, weight gain, crushing fatigue, loss of concentration and issues with short term memory, heart issues and this is just to name a few. I'd been in and out of the ER and had a couple of hospitalizations as well. To keep this short after many, many different doctors/specialists, labs, MRI CTs, and tons of other tests I get diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. It turns out this diagnosis was inaccurate. After spending some time under the care of a Rheumatologist and them studying my case and symptoms more closely they changed the diagnosis to Enteropathic-Spondyloarthritis, this basically means I have some form of Inflammatory bowel disease and deterioration in many of my joints, but primarily my spine. A few months later after a hospitaliation for my heart almost failing, labs confirmed I also have Lyme disease. There's evidence to suggest the auto-immune (rheumatoid) disorders have been an issue for quite some time but the lyme may have exaserbated it. Not to mention that the symptoms and inflammation of both disorders overlap. They are similar and hard to tell which or if both diseases are active. My state (Florida) passed an act during the 2016 election allowing for use of medical marijuana. Legislation is so tight though that only terminally ill patients can be prescribed medical cannabis and they have to have 2 doctors (one must be a specialist) vouch that the patient can die within a year without life sustaining treatment. They allow low-THC to be prescribed to patients with chronic/debilitating disorders (I think mine qualifies). The issue is, they are making it very difficult for people to get their hands on this treatment, lots of hoops to jump through and for people with certain disorders the higher THC treatments would benefit them more as far as recovery and slowing the progression of these chronic disorders. But, legislation is making sure you have to be dying first before you can legally get your hands on that treatment. I want to start some change in my state. I'm starting to right legislators, my district congressman was the first I wrote. I plan to move on to Senators, Governors and may be on up to the federal level. It sickens me the lengths that people have to go through to get real medicine with minimal side effects such ass THC. I am also working on a research paper for my college class and the topic I chose was medical marijuana. If any of you would like to share the story of your journey, I'd be happy to read it and if you consent, I may even use exerpts from your story as part of my paper and as examples when writing to the politicians and lobbying for change. You can reply to me here or email me at cinpc850@yahoo.com By the way, Medical ID cards won't even be issues until November in my state, and my lyme disease is making it impossible for me to be treated for the rheumatoid issues. Rheumatoid disorders are treated with immune-supressants such as biologic infusions and low dose chemotherapy drugs as well as steroids. If they pound my immune system with these while th Lyme is active, I risk making the Lyme disease even more complicated. If the rheumatoid disorder can't be treated, my quality of life can be deminished even more, to the point that I can end up in a wheelchair and needing constant care from my family. Potent Medical Marijuana/oil is the only thing that may be able to treat my issues without killing my immune system and making the Lyme worse! Any advice or insight from you guys would really help. Thanks.
