I was diagnosed with MCTD 2 months ago and on Prednisone and Hydroxychloroquine but now my Rheumatologist is talking about adding another immune suppression drug. I had symptoms for 3 months before Doctors figured out what was wrong. Looking for some information on what worked for you and how long it took for relief? I'm really having a hard time mentally with all of this because I am a very black/white type of person and there is a lot of grey area with this. Thank you for any information you can offer.
I feel the same way you feel- i'm in the same boat, but I have a few other medicines that I take, I guess I would say i'm a severe case which is so upsetting to begin with. I feel your pain, I really do, its so frustrating because it is such a gray area
It took my the doctors over 20 yrs to figure out what was wrong with me. I went into remission for 15 yrs before ever diagnosed. I was diagnosed 2 yrs ago. I take plaxqenil, Orencia. Hang in there, soon you will have good days.
I have been diagnosed with MCTD a few weeks ago. My doctor refuses to see me early for hydrocodone (my back tension when it was severe, I was on another pain killer which was hurting my stomach) as they say because I was seen by him as an outpatient at the hospital. To live without hydrocodone/pain killer until he sees me I started working out like walking which was hard at first but kept doing as much then started on weights (very helpful), so having said that my back pain/tension has reduced significantly. Even though they say you can eat whatever but I think don't do that because it is a revenue for them with a person having more issues.
FYI, if you feel you are not having depression Please do not take it, instead do yoga or something for relaxing, and if you believe in prayers then do that too (it has helped me a lot), go volunteer, pets are relaxing. Overall be grateful for everything every day will give you peace, and do it sincerely and accepting what God has given is less severe than what others are going through with much greater issues. I would not say any of all had I not been applying and experiencing. I have been hospitalized for many days with so much pain I cannot describe, I felt death coming to me or future disability before any diagnoses were made.
Oh, I am on a high dose of steroid for now until they figure out whatelse to give me or replace with. I have been afraid to go to a gym because of rapid heart beat from steriod. I prayed who I can talk to about if I can workout during my steroid and my prayers came true to talk to someone live and gave me the confidence to start weights (do slow motions) which helped my heart beat lower down because I am not used to high beats. The whole time I thought I might get a heart attack because I have never taken steroids before. Fasting helps too (give it a few hours time or more hours or eat less), don't eat too much at ones, eat in small portions as you can notice our heart pumps more.
