I just bought frozen donor eggs last week from the World Egg Bank in Arizona. 7 frozen eggs are on their way. I made the decision after 7 egg retrievals and a total of 11 IVF medicated cycles (4 were cancellations). Those cycles yielded a bunch of abnormal embies. I still have 3 frozen, but I don't think I want to transfer them, unless its a last resort effort if donor eggs don't work. For insight, my AMH is low, FSH normal, age 39, abnormal thyroid (hashimotos).
What I really want is to be a mom. To carry my baby. And donor egg seems like the best statistical chance of getting there. So right now, I am awaiting until the egg bank and my clinic in San Diego coordinate. I also have a phone chat with my RE tomorrow to go over getting my uterus ready for game time. I am very excited and getting impatient with all the waiting! I just hope he can give me a timeline estimate or I'll explode. I am the type that needs a game plan to look forward to, or I get ansty. I'll keep you updated. Meanwhile, I am eating healthy, exercizing and doing acupuncture continuously. And lots and lots of prayer! I am sending you all lots of love and hugs!
Congrats on your decision. I'm in the same boat with low AMH, endometriosis, and I just turned 35. It's taken me years to get through all the surgeries and testing and "trying" different things to start IVF. But we started our stim protocol last week, but the numbers don't look good.
I'm skeptical, with low amh the success percentages just don't seem to be in our favor. I'd love to keep in contact with you and hear how egg donation goes. I'd be open to it if we can afford it. I'm like you in that the biology isn't as important as the experience of being my child's mother and having that connection from birth. We are also considering adoption, but the process in our state is daunting so we won't be starting that journey until this one officially ends.

Thank you! I would love to keep in touch! I wish you the best of luck in your new cycle. I think its good that you're actually giving it a try. By this I mean, trying even though the low AMH, etc. I've heard people be told not to try ivf, then try and do pretty well. And, when I tried, although my 1st doc was skeptical, we did have a so-so outcome, but just bad eggs.
When you say the numbers don't look good, you mean you're concerned with follicle count? I sure hope it gets better! A lot can change in a few days. Keep me posted as well!
I think I was over-suppressed at first but now at day 11 we are just seeing my E2 go up because they took me off Cetrotide which I was on for like 10 days starting between stopping BC and starting stims. It's a different protocol than most people. I didn't realize I could be on stims for over 14 or 15 days but it seems like that's the plan.. just keep cooking this follies till they make something happen! Whatever works is totally fine by me.
Did you end up getting a timeline estimate or any new info at your visit?
