I've been preparing for an embryo transfer, scheduled to be this month. Well, I took birth control in my last luteal phase. Then started estrogen oral tablets (2mg, then 4, then 6mg). Had my ultrasound and blood test yesterday and got some potentially bad news. Doc says my lining is too thin at 4-5mm and my estradiol levels are not great either, at only 198. I am on cycle day 9, so it should've been better by now..supposedly. He asked if I wanted to cancel. I said no, since we've come this far, and that we should up my estrogen dose and check again early next week. The doc says he's not optimistic, but will agree to continue. He has asked that I now take 2 pills orally, and use 1 pill as a suppository (fun!). I am praying and hoping my lining improves by next week!!! As long as my lining is above 7mm, I'll ask for transfer. If not, then we try again next time. We may just do natural, non-medicated FET, and maybe Viagra. Yes, viagra as a suppository, to increase blood flow, thus making a thicker lining.
In the meantime, I am upping my acupuncture to 2x a week, starting to go on walks, drinking pomegranate juice, beet juice, l-arginine, Omega 3s pills and 400iu vitamin E...oh and red raspberry leaf tea. All to improve circulation.
I'll update you next week when we do a new ultrasound and blood draw. Please keep me in your prayers! And I hope you're all doing good and that we all get good news soon!
I think 7mm is a great target to shoot for! I would agree that I would give it a shot at that measurement! Its amazing that anyone gets pregnant when you consider all the things that need to go right and be in place. Its just crazy! Stay positive! Keep us posted!!!
Thanks! So today my estrogen jumped up to around 1600! We only did a blood test today, and will wait and do a new ultrasound Monday. I am optimistic with that number, since the estrogen is supposed to thicken the lining. Doc says the minimum he'd like to see is 6.5mm for transfer. I think I can get there! The other big news is we icsi'ed the 7 donor embryos today. Praying they grow and that I get a few good embryos. Will update you again in the coming days. I hope you're doing well too and probably ready to pop? LOL!
Good luck with US today, and growing those embryos! I am about to start FET protocol, so it's particularly interesting to hear about the meds and threshold for uterine lining - keep us posted.
As MrsMooney says: it's amazing ppl get pregnant with alllll of the things that need to be aligned! Of course, given IVF, the docs are scrutinizing us in their attempt to raise our chances. I never imagined family planning could be so complicated!
Hello! Thank you both. I got my lining up to 7.1mm on Monday, yay. But, it dropped down to 6.8mm today, and I also had a huge estrogen drop (I think my suppository fell out). With those two factors, it may indicate that I will not be receptive to a blast and perhaps preparing for a period. I think even 7.1 is a bit on the thin side. So, I cancelled my FET for this cycle. We'll start over in 2 weeks. I am very crushed, but given we have so few embryos to work with, I can't risk transferring until things are alright. My personal goal for next cycle it to get to at least 8mm. Above 8mm is better statistically for implantation. I think being on clomid for 1.5 years is probably a contributing factor to my lining problem? Ugh I hated clomid, and if I ever stimulate again, I will not take it.
As far as the embryos, of the 7 eggs, 6 were mature and fertilized. 5 made it to day 1. Today at day 5, we have 4 blastocysts! So thankful! They'll be biopsied for PGS and frozen. Now, I pray that we get some normals. Will know more next week. Thanks for your support and hope you're all doing good!
