I started my injections today and the egg retrieval will be somewhere between September 18-23. My father in law has brain tumor and the doctors say he has about 12-14 months left to live. Since the day my husband and I got married he wanted us to have kids so he can spoil them. My husband and I've been ready to start the IVF procedure since 2 months now but this recent news of my father in law has us both very stressed. My husband really wants to fulfill his father's dream of becoming a grandparent. I feel so helpless that I couldn't conceive naturally in two years of trying. I hope and pray I can make his wish come true.
I am SO sorry to hear about that. That is SO much stress and pressure! Of course you can do all things possible to optimize the procedure, but as you have learned through this process, our bodies do what they want to do. How is your stim cycle going? Have they counted any follicles yet? Keep us posted!
Thank you. I am trying acupuncture. Hopefully it helps with the stress. On Sunday September 10th I started taking Follistim 225 iu. On September 15 I have my ultrasound so hopefully they'll count the follicles then.
Tomorrow tomorrow! Very exciting!! Update us when you know bout follicles!! I have heard great things about acupuncture! In fact, some IVF clinics require you do it as part of treatment!!!
Hey! So I have 9 follicles on the left side and 13 on the right side. Is that a good number? Egg retrieval will be early next week. I still have to go in for another ultrasound tomorrow.
So that number changed.. doctor said that number was for all the follicles but only 15-16 look like a decent size. Egg retrieval will be on Wednesday. My husband and I decided to do a fresh transfer and if we have extra embryos left we'll do PGD testing on those.
That is still a great number!!! Are you going to transfer one or two embryos? I would go for two if it is fresh and not PGS tested. We did that with our first IVF. A fresh transfer of two day three embryos... and one of them implanted.
As a point of reference on numbers, with my most recent IVF they retrieved 20 mature follicles. 16 fertilized. 13 made it to day 5 for biopsy and freezing, so they were all PGS tested. Of the 13, six came back PGS normal!
Hey. So they retrieved 19 eggs yesterday. I just got a call from the doctor he said 12 fertilized. Let's see how many make it to day 5 and then how many come back from the PGS testing. How's everything going with you? When's the transfer date? Mines on Monday
Today is the day you get the day 5 call, right!??!?!?! 12 is an awesome starting number!!
I am looking at our next transfer the last week of October. So about 5 weeks from now!
sammy20 I hope that you get loads of blastocysts! Look forward to hearing from you. I'm new to this online forum and I'm glad I found it. I'm currently going through my second IVF cycle and hoping for success this time. Glad you got the PGS testing - best idea even though it costs extra money. I had 4 make it to day 5 and 2 that came back PGS normal. I'm doing an FET hopefully in about 3 1/2 weeks so around the same time as you mrsmooney826. I say hopefully because I just did a biopsy test called an ERA - did you ladies ever do that test? If you aren't familiar with it, they can check and see if your lining is "receptive" after a certain number of days of progesterone. Did this test because I had 3 failed FETs this year. I switched clinics because I felt lost and uncared for. Love my new RE and she is really on top of her game. Hoping for better luck this go around. My heart goes out to both of you!
So yesterday they transferred one beautiful fresh embryo in me. Since then I can't stop rubbing my belly lol. Out of 12 only 6 made it to day 5. Since we used one we'll be sending 5 for testing. Let's see how many are good to freeze. I do have mild cramping in my lower stomach and my lower back hurts too not sure if that's normal.
Fabulous!!!! SO exciting!! I am sending you SO much positive vibe and sticky dust!!! When do you go back for beta? Start a new post when you get updates so it doesn't get lost on this one!! I dont want to miss it!!!
And @talkingrain keep me posted! I love having someone one the same time line as me!!!!!!
Hope you are feeling ok! Cramps can be super normal after an ET. Fantastic for getting 6 blasts! That's super great. I hope many of them come out normal from pgs testing. Sending you big hugs!
