I am currently in a full round of IVF. This is my second attempt at IVF. I had a daughter in December 2015 from a first attempt fresh transfer. We are starting from scratch and hoping for another miracle!
I started birth control Tuesday and I will start 5 days of antibiotics on Monday. I also go see my RE on Wednesday to do a trial transfer and blood work.
We have one embryo after two stims. Plan for FET end of June. I am on ocp now and ordering all my meds. I start them the first week of June. Praying for success!!
I'm about to start my first round the first week of June. I'm not really sure what to expect but I'm trying to prepare myself for whatever the outcome is.
I started birth control on Tuesday as well, will be on it until July. As long as bloodwork and ultrasound look good at that time, we'll start meds for an FET. Don't have exact dates yet, but was told the transfer would be late July-early August, so we shall see. Good luck to everyone!
How long does it take for a FET to thaw? That seems like a long time to be on birth control? I've only done a fresh cycle so far, so maybe the process is different for a FET.
I am on an embryo banking plan. MENTS: We haven't retrieved any yet as my last 2 cycles converted to IUIs that were BFN. I had 7 follies at baseline and hoping they grow nice and big for a retrieval between June 1-6. Excited for us all!
@eastcoastgirl78 it is a long time to be on birth control but they have to control your cycle, especially when it is irregular like mine so there's no telling when I'd get another period if I didn't control it with bc. And they have to time the meds with your period so it helps them manage the time table. Worst part of FET's for me is the period coming off of being on bc for that long.
I'm sorry to hear about that @fsugrad05 :( I have a feeling we will be doing a FET with the one remaining embryo we have. I don't feel as if our first IVf cycle was successful. It's only been five days since the transfer but I just have a weird feeling that it didn't take. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard thinking about all you go through and then not have it take.
Thanks @eastcoastgirl78, its all good and I have been through way worse so this is nothing in comparison. I get that feeling you are having, I have had it before. My fresh IVF cycle did not work but the FET did, we ended up losing him in the end but my point is that FET's have a better chance of being successful than fresh rounds so I also understand trying and failing to stay positive. Just do your best to take care of you, it's easier than trying to remain positive. I tell people that my parents, mother in law, sister, best friends, etc have all my positivity for me so it's ok if I can't muster it all the time. Good luck, let us know how it turns out :)
I got my period this morning :( I had a gut feeling it wasn't going to take so while I am sad I don't feel as distraught. I left a message with our nurse to let her know and to let me know what our next steps our. We have one frozen embryo so I wonder if I will start BC right away to try and catch this cycle or if we wait another month for the next cycle.
Our doctor usually wants me to wait a cycle or 2 before starting another round. I can't remember the reason at this point but I'm sure there is a good one. And even though you were expecting it, it's still a disappointment so I'm sorry for that.
Thanks @fsugrad05. I may have actually jumped the gun. The bleeding actually stopped! . It was more than just a little spotting leading me to believe it was AF. But it didn't last long. I'm so happy and confused at the same time bc I took a test but it was negative. I guess I just have to wait longer. This is making me insane!
eastcoastgirl are you getting a beta blood test to verify if you are preggers? Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing :-)
MENTS: I just got my ultrasound and have a 16, 17 and an 8 mm, plus a bunch of small ones under 5 which won't count. We're waiting until the 2 big ones to hit at least 22mm. Looking like a retrieval is possible by Friday, hooray! End MENTS.
Have any of you had a retrieval before? How bad is it? Are you groggy and sore? What can I expect?
How is everyone else doing?
@hope114 Yes, my blood test is scheduled for Friday morning. Fingers crossed! I had my first retrieval two weeks ago. I had 25 eggs retrieved. I was nervous about the retrieval but they put you out and then send you home with prescription Tylenol with codeine for any pain. I took the pain meds for two days and then I was fine with regular Tylenol. My ovaries were very unlarged still so that was really what was uncomfortable in the days following the retrieval. You'll do great! Good luck to you!
We had our blood test this morning and my nurse called around noon with the results. To my disbelief, the test came back positive! After letting my immediate family know and spending time with my husband this afternoon, I am not sitting here alone for a few minutes and still can't believe this is happening. I am so happy but more so scared that something will happen. Maybe I've read too many posts online, and have read so many struggles of infertility and miscarragies. Now I feel like I can't even enjoy this moment. I hope after it sets in that I can start to feel happy and be positive.
