I was more active on here in Oct/November before i went for my first IVF cycle outside the US. Long story short, i was at high risk for OHSS (thank you PCOS) so i couldn't do a fresh transfer, and hopefully over the next couple of weeks i can have my frozen one. (Today is scan of day 10 to see!)
Any tips or words of wisdom or things to bring with me there? I tried watching some you tube videos of what to expect, but i sort of got freaked out and shut it off lol.
So are you having a scan today to make sure your lining and body are ready for FET? You must be on meds to get your body prepped for transfer. What are you taking? How are you feeling through it? Do you do your own injections? The scan will be easy, no special prep required!
Wishing you the best of luck! I haven't had any FETs yet, but expect to do that in the future (right now, in hen mode, still collecting eggs). If there is any advice I can give you is, trust your body. Its a powerful thing and it will know what to do, as long as you believe in it.
I had a similar journey. Had OHSS ... when I went for a scan they stopped counting there were so many eggs. But that just meant loads of low quality eggs. I was really nervous none of them would be mature / viable which they tried to prepare me for but ended up with 6 byos.
For me, the FETs were more a mental then physical battle. I think if you’ve done IVF, you can physically handle it no problem. Sure it’s annoying taking the meds and the transfer is uncomfortable, but nothing was painful for me. It was the constant thinking about ever twinge and counting the days till the test that was hardest. So my advice would be plan ahead for things to do to comfortably pass the time and keep your mind busy. Don’t take on anything stressful and say no to things you know you won’t want to do. Put yourself and how you feel first. No matter what he result, there is going to be a lot of emotions there, so be kind and patient with yourself.
Keeping fingers and toes crossed. We’re all here for you! xx
Thank you so much!! Sorry i didn't reply - i was traveling to the transfer.
Hope- where do you stand in your process? I like your way of thinking - maybe if i think positive it will go along with me?
MrsO thank you! i had a similar experience - wasn't painful (thankfully!) but now i'm exactly where you were- thinking and noticing every little thing! Lately it's been how suddenly and "deeply" hungry i get! And the small cramps, and the twinges... exactly like you said!!
Funny you should say take it easy - our transfer was in Europe, and we traveled back the next day, then i had a job interview the following day after that. -
yesterday! And they offered me the job! So there are a lot of other things i should be focusing on, but it's like my head wants to make me crazy and be like HEY!!! DO YOU FEEL THAT PANG? DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE!??!?
I figured i'll come to others before me for support and strength.
Glad to hear it all went well! I think new / exciting things are great for keeping positive and future focused. For my first FET I put way to much expectation and pressure on myself and took on things that weren't fun which I found made it harder for me. It sounds like you have lots of exciting things to help keep the mind busy ... but help is the key word there. It's really hard (the hardest part?) and that's totally normal in my experience. Trust me, you'll get through it! And we're all hear to listen to how you're feeling, good or bad. Thinking of you x
@MrsO thank you!! Today i started a new job, so that definitely made the day go by... but i did try to both think and not think about it. Just can't win against your own head sometimes! xoxo
How is the new job going? Hopefully that is helping to keep your mind busy. We were going to try another transfer next month but not feeling quite ready so might wait one more. It’s a tricky balance of feeling ready and going for it!
MrsO- thank you so much! It's going okay.... i totally hear you waiting a little longer. You might as well wait until you are good and ready. It's just an additional stress and worrying, on top of the stress and worrying you have at this point. But i think you certainly have to gear yourself up for it. And also, it doesn't end after you test.. i'm wondering if any part of this is easy?!!?
Sending you thoughts to figure out when the best time for you to do it is.
xoxo
Lilie! How are you doing? To answer your question above, I switched gears and bought donor eggs. They have yet to be delivered to my clinic. I would estimate I may be close to a fertilization and transfer as soon as May. Fingers crossed! I'll post a detailed status soon.
