My husband and I are I would say newly weds, we've been married for almost 8 months now and I feel as though my worst fear had came to reality after we said "I do" everything has changed his affection towards me, everything. He's been making me feel like my feelings don't matter he always makes me feel guilty for feeling mad or sad towards anything basically for having any kind of emotions he calls it "acting like a child" or being a "drama queen". When I try to have a sit down with him and talk out what bothers me or about what I feel is unhealthy in our marriage he rolls his eyes and puts his headphones in and says he does'nt want to hear it. At this point I'm unsure if I want to be in this marriage any longer. I am trying to be patient and make it work but you can't make something work with no effort from the other end. I try to be understanding to the fact he's young, but he's real disrespecful. Thoughts?
You may not want to hear all the thoughts I have in reading this. It makes me worry about you to be honest. Young or not I think he needs to treat you like the special, unique woman he married. I hope you can reach him to wake him up to the fact that he is already failing as a husband. Bests
I do not know what age you are or how long you were involved before you were married but I do have some questions....
1. do you have alcoholism in your close or even distant family?
2. do you have groups and friends of your OWN that are outside of the marriage?
3. do you have close friends that are women that you can discuss things with?
4. What would you be doing if he were not in your life?
The best advice I was given was to
1. not look to my husband for all of my emotional needs to be met
2. men do not like to talk about deep emotional things... that's for women friends
3. have my own hobbies and groups
4. know that i am responsible for my OWN happiness
5. go to Al Anon bc alcoholism in my distant family taught me to be codependent on men... which never worked
6. men do not get touchy feeling but they do respond to being appreciated and respected. They do not respond to things like "what are you thinking?"... I NEVER ask that question to a man
7. you can be happy ... but you are the one responsible for it... not him.
Umm? My wife and I talk about our feelings and emotions often. Maybe I’m not most guys but I am a firm believer of expressing myself with her. I like the ; take responsibility for own happiness. That should be in every wedding vow. Because it keeps us from getting complacent. How relationships fail. We got rid of the cable and read or watch a good movie together. It’s more intimate and doesn’t waste the precious time we have. Inspires conversation.
