My husband and I have been married for almost three years, and we have two young kids together. We met one November and were pregnant by April, so things went a little fast. I was ready to start a family and thought that being pregnant meant I should have a ring on my finger. When I met my now-husband, he was a heavy cigarette smoker. He told me he always planned to quit when he had kids. The past two and half years I have put up with the cigarettes, and now he is finally trying to quit using electronic cigarettes. This is a huge deal to me because I grew up in a smoking household and promised myself never to do that to my own kids. Also, I quit smoking and it has been hell to live with a smoker and try to stay a non-smoker. When I met my husband he was involved in something I wanted nothing to do with. I almost broke up with him but he decided to quit doing that as well and we kept dating. One year into our marriage he started it up again saying it is because of our financial issues. In my opinion, the reason we any have financial issues is that he has no sense of financial responsibility and pisses away our cash mindlessly on gas station visits, etc. I take care of all the adult responsibilities in the household - paying bills, kids doctor's appointments, organizing the household. I work full-time as well. I'm angry with my husband because I think that he made promises and acted like he was a different person when we met. I am not attracted to him anymore. After our wedding, my mother's side of the family didn't talk to me for years. I feel like in public/ around others he acts one way to make people think we have the perfect relationship but then when it is just us he make me feel like my desires or goals do not matter. I get ignored. I hate to break up our family and put the kids through divorce, but I am to the point that I believe it is necessary for me to be happy with who I am. I do not rely on my husband for my happiness, but I think that he is actually working against making me happy. As a product of a broken home, I always wanted to keep my family together. He says he won't go to counseling with me. How do I know if I should move forward with a divorce?
