Seperation from each other

My boyfriend decided to join the Marines a while ago and he isn't gone yet, but ever since he decided to join, our relationship has gone down hill. We fight very frequently and before, we rarely fought before and now, for the past 4 months I feel like he isn't even the person I fell in love with. He stopped checking on me and hates when I get upset when I think about him being gone and I don't know what to do because I feel like when he leaves, we won't make it because I have been the only one putting in effort towards our relationship. He has been pushing away from me and we just aren't the same anymore and the fighting can get really bad at times and I really don't know what to do.

Hmm, maybe he’s just trying to prepare himself for the days when he will have to leave everything and everyone. Having said that, I personally think that is the wrong way to go about things. Maybe he’s afraid? Sounds like he’s distancing himself from you but not telling you why. He’s just responding with anger. People change girl. And becoming a Marine he will change A LOT. But that’s where you have to decide for yourself if this is the kind of life you want. I’ve been with my Marine for 2 years. Met him before he enlisted, and yes he definitely changed a lot from who he used to be before he became a Marine. But In ways he is still the same man I fell in love with. Times like this will happen again and again. I’ve had those times too with the anger and the distance. If you love him you will stick by your man. Don’t worry so much about him
Leaving. It will be okay. It’s gonna suck but you’ll both get through it . Sometimes you have to be the strong one and sometimes he will for you. It’s all worth it though I can tell you that. So many fights we’ve had where I thought we were over. But love finds a way. He cares about you, he does. Ask him what he’s thinking. Try not to focus on the sad times of him being gone but try to remember the good times. Make him laugh remembering your good memories
He will come around. Stay strong girl.

I’m trying to look on the bright side and fight through this rough patch because I know that we can make it through it and we have been through so much together and I know that I don’t want to break up because of this. Both me and him have been through a lot during these last few months so just from that we’re not the same, but we’re trying really hard to get better
