Marine Girlfriends Community Group
As Marine girlfriends, we know how hard it can be to face boot camp, training, and deployments. We face many lonely nights, and we know how to be strong on the outside when we are crying on the inside. We have unconditional pride for our men in uniform, and we are always faithful. Semper Fi! This group is for us to find support from others facing the same challenges....
However, like I said before, I can't exactly relate to what you're going through. I can't imagine going a year or more talking to my man every day to then having little to no contact with him overnight. What I will say has helped me cope with my little contact with N is journaling. I found this cute journal at Walmart a couple weeks back and on my days that I am struggling, or even those days I am having a good day that I wish I could share with N, I use the journal to write down my feelings or things I want to say to N. I know it sounds silly, but this small thing has actually helped a great deal. I have never been one to use a journal, and the few times as a teenager that I thought I would give it a try, I failed miserably at being consistent and would often do a day or two then a year or two later try again. This time is different and I love my journaling.
Next, I would say write your boyfriend letters. Even though he isn't able to talk to you or respond in real-time, writing letters to him may help you cope, and when he can, hopefully he will be sending you some too so that you guys can still feel connected to each other.
Now, just remember to have faith in your relationship. Although I didn't go through bootcamp by N's side, I do know that it is the first of many Marine Corps related relationship hurdles and you just need to have faith that you two will be okay when he's finished with it. Build a support system of us online, but also of your family and friends. I am fortunate that I have some amazing friends and a wonderful family that have been supportive of me and my moments of crazy these last few weeks. Truthfully, N and I started talking again on March 20th and he deployed April 10th, we didn't get to see each other before he left (hence why we aren't "officially together") and despite that, my friends and family have been extremely supportive of me and of our "relationship," which has been helpful. I even feel like it is crazy to consider myself a Marine Corps girlfriend given the three weeks of mere talking I had with him after four years, but they all support what he and I have with each other and have been able to talk me out of doubts I have had periodically these last seven weeks. If you can surround yourself with people that allow you to vent, and support you and your relationship that will undoubtedly help.
Sorry I can't completely relate. but if you need to vent, let me know! <3
