Hello! My name's Bella and my boyfriend and I have been together almost three years. Most of it was not long distance and the distance is killing both of us, I'm really struggling with not being able to talk to him every day. How do you more experienced girlfriends deal with it?
I wish I could go with him to where he's at for training but my parents are very old fashioned and don't believe I should go with him unless we're married, and there's been no further discussion on that part with he and I besides throwing the idea around (we're hesitant to move on with that next step of talking because I'm a freshman in college and we're both still super young.:( ) Plus he's not a huge fan of my parents (they're harsh and abrasive and think without speaking and it's a reason I don't speak very frequently with them myself)
Anyways, how do y'all cope and I would absolutely love to become girlfriends with any of y'all since the support groups around where I live are few and far between and more centered around the spouses and family and I don't fall into either category and I feel bad wanting to go. :( anyways thanks bunches again.
I feel a little outcasted to be honest when i go to functions for my marine and the wives just arent that friendly. i just smile and stand my ground. Marriage isnt something to rush in to but also relationships like ours will never give you that "right time" feeling. You just have to follow your heart and talk with your Marine. dont be afriad to take that leap girl if he is the man you want to marry and spend your life with and he feels the same then your parents will just have to deal with it. NO DISRESPECT intended AT ALL, but its your life. There are school everywhere! you can go wherever you want, it's up to YOU to stay motivated and not fall out just because life gets in the way. there is online schooling also.
What i'm trying to say is follow what YOU and your Marine want to do. your parents will come around. Unfortunately we are not given the same lifestyle as others who are not in a relationship with a service member so my advice would be just stay supportive of your service member and communicate WHEN you can. the distance is hard, i know it all too well and some days will kill you but nothing will ever that bad as long as you have your Love.
