it started out just a little lie here and there and grew from there. Mainly to avoids getting in trouble by my parents. I guess from there it grew to lying to my friends. 20 years later still doing it. It now is carrying over to my relationship in which I have been caught twice. This last time it has really put a dent into our relationship. I realize I have a problem/issue. Trying to find a way to resolve the root of the problem. I know my morals are better than this, it's easier said then done. I'm searching for answers, when it really could be as simple as starting an hour without a "white lie" per-say.

Easier said then done..... is quite correct. Mine is to avoid conflict. Or not to show my failures. The root stems from many things. My hubby also at times makes it difficult because I "think" he going to be angry with me on an issue where in fact he annoyed by it but not me. So I change the story. When truth comes out a fight breaks out not because of the situation but because of the lie. If you feel that you going to lie or being pushed. Rather stand back and take a breather. Set small goals where things you know you lie on. E.g. You make coffee always for your partner and you tell everyone you do because everyone else is. Rather keep quite or just say you surprise them every now and then. I know it sounds stupid. Believe me even those small lies accumulate to other lies and it stems further. Ask your partner to help you by creating a safe haven where you can tell the truth. Not to attack. Also check to see where you lie. Why you lie. You say to avoid trouble. Why? I hate getting into trouble as well so I lied to get out etc. Now I have to face it but with help from my hubby. Friends who understand. Avoid people if possible that lie and do things underhandedly. For that does not help your lying. I know my "friends" did not help me there much. I had to walk away from them as they were not helping me right but wrongly. I try to set goals where I measure my day to how much "white lies" I say. At times I shake my head and think really. You lied about making the tea. To wow it less today. Always remember rather face the trouble then the shame of being caught in the lie and trust is broken.
