you were on lupron for some time: have you had any adverse effects that people have mentioned?

I'm still on it and i don't understand that?? I get hot flashed and real bitch swings all the time and cry for no reason thats about it.

I have been on lupron for 29 days and it has been the worst 29 days of my life!

It has worked amazing for me but my DR. didn't tell me there is a 6 month use at a time limit kinda thing and i've been on it 2 and 1/2 years.. it s nuts!

15 months and now hve full blown osteoporosis and fractured ribs that won't seem to heal.

Everyone should be scared if they have taken lupron or are considering lupron. The side effects go on, and on, and on. The risks are absolutely not worth the benefits. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Do all the investigation you can before taking this drug.

Let me start from the beginning, back in 1989 at the age of 25, I had stage IV endometriosis, the doctor suggested Lupron shots for 6 months. After going through all the tests for infertility, we were glad they found the problem, and this gave us hope to have the baby we really wanted. I just remember side effects being the hot flashes. After being off the Lupron for 6 months, we were delighted to conceive and had our beautiful daughter, followed by our great son 19 months after the birth of our daughter, for them I will be forever grateful. I am not sure when the other symptoms started occuring, but around 40, my knees started hurting alot, menstrual cycle started getting heavier, pulling pain behind my belly button, and my stomach unusually started protruding. At the age of 46 got really ill for 2 weeks, doctor said probably just a hernia, many people have them. I was relieved,thankful it wasn't something worse. Pain continued in my abdomen for 9 months, then horrible pain on my right side would come and go, to the point I did not even want to move till it passed. Felt like a heart attack. Went to doctor and after many tests was diagnosed with a very rare form of ovarian cancer, clear cell carcinoma. The pain on my right side was actually pulmonary embolisms that passed through my heart into my right lung. Blood clots caused by the 6.5 centimeter mass on my right ovary they said, I don't know if this was caused by the drug Lupron or not? But I often wondered. My world was turned upside down, but I guess I was lucky it was found at Stage 3, treatment included 3 rounds of chemo, followed by hysterectomy, 3 more rounds of chemo, and then maintenance chemo for another 6 months. My abdominal wall is shot, not sure if from the surgery alone or partly from the Lupron. My outlook is good, but I still have painful joints, and my abdomen just doesn't feel right, still protrudes. A blood test, CA125 is used to detect ovarian cancer, mine was 175 when first diagnosed in Nov. 2010, now it is around 19, anything below 30 is considered in the normal range. The doctors say they do not take this blood test until symptoms occur, which makes no sense to me. They say it varies month to month too much, wouldn't want to alarm anyone, but I would rather be alarmed then to let it advance too far. Again, not sure what effect Lupron had on my body, all I know is I've had very strange symptoms.

I was on it for 2 months and when I went in to get another shot I told them I was forgetting words!
(The name for that is aphasia). I can't finish sentences for that reason! I was a hairstylist and I think
People thought I was on drugs when I couldn't complete my sentences! Unfortunately I still have
aphasia and its been 11 years now! I had endometriosis and they didn't give me a third shot of it and
Scheduled me for surgery, they took everything out, I don't even have a cervix! I read up on depot Lupron
And unfortunately it says in the side effects that it can be permanent , and 11 years later I still have speech
Problems so I'm assuming its permanent ! So very frustrating . It's made my anxiety and depression worse
because I can't have conversations with anyone other than family because they understand that it may take
a bit to find the word or replace it with a word that is close to the same in meaning or I describe what word I'm
trying to say like for "cup" I would say "you drink out of it". I am on disability because of all this! I only had 2 shots, just 2!!!

I was on it for 15 months. Was 51 with my first injection and 52 with my last. Being that age I believe made me vulnerable to the drug causing osteroporosis and severe bone thinning. If you can get a bone scan done (Dexa?)and pray a lot.
