Loved Ones who support someone with MS Community Group
This group is meant for those who help someone with MS. This would include family, good friends, spouses and caregivers. It is a place to exchange good ideas that may help us in caring for those we love that have this disease.
Travel Tips for Disney World (FL)
EPagain
* Use a manual wheelchair in Magic Kingdom because many of the rides need a transfer to a manual wheelchair anyway. My husband says the manual wheelchairs there suck. However, besides this everyone is super nice and did everything to accommodate him ( :
* Use Electric scooter at Animal kingdom because there are a lot of rough sections and the scooters have shock absorbers.
*Walker Medical has scooters for $20 less a day ($30 per day) than Disney's and you can use Walkers Medical scooters at the resorts and the parks. Disney's scooter ($50 a day) have to be left in the park, from what I was told. Walker's number 407-518-6000
* Even if you do not have bladder issues wear depends, and bring a external cath (males can do this) or internal one if you have experience putting them in. I say this because having to go 1-3 times an hour keeps you from enjoying the rides with your group.
* Get a room on park property so you can take the shuttles back to your resort mid day if you need a break without feeling like you are disrupting the group.
* Put all your hotel, cab, doc numbers on your cell phone in case of emergency. This came in VERY handy several times.
* IF you need to call in a script to your doctor Turner Drugs takes out-of-state scripts and delivers to the resorts. 407-828-8125
* If you have to travel between Disney to another park (ie Sea World) you can get a rental car or you can use a cab company. ie Checker cab 407-329-4267
* Skipping the meal plan will probably save you money.
* AAA saves you a bunch on park tickets and hotel but we would have done better to get the airline tickets and rental car somewhere else.
If you have any other comments please add.
PS We had a wonderful time on our family trip to Disney and are so happy with all the staff we met at Disney. ( :
