I lost my 23 year old son on 11-5-16. My struggle with it is consuming me. I was told it was alcohol poisoning, he vomited while he was sleeping on his back, and suffocated. Since I haven't gotten results from autopsy back yet, there is still a possibilty that his drug addiction contributed. Regardless of the results, he is gone because of his fight. He was a heroin addict that tried so many times to go through rehab. This time, he replaced the heroin with drinking. His father and I have been divorced for over 17 years. His father found him that morning. I could not imagine how he felt. I have thoughts and visions about how he suffered. I feel as though I abandoned him. Last year I moved 1100 miles away. I thought it was time he needed to stop depending on me, and support himself. I know deep down that even if I would have stayed, this still would have eventually happened. No matter what I said to him, or did for him, he wouldn't have listened. The addiction struggle is rough to watch. I still love him with everything in me, and I miss him more every day.
