I am a 61 year old female who was diagnosed with PKD in Dec. of 2012. As far as i know, neither of my parents had PKD. My 30 yr old son, however, was diagnosed with PKD several yrs ago after being hospitalized with a kidney stone. My diagnosis came after pre-op blood work for a repair of a broken patella.
This has been a long haul for me and my family. My symptoms so far are: fatigue, high blood pressure and anemia. I have adjusted my diet and feel pretty well so far. At the moment. I am not on dialysis and am being evaluated for a kidney transplant. My husband has offered to be my live donor if he is a match.
I try to keep a positive attitude but my emotions sometime get the better of me.
