A group for all those who are living a sober life and want to discuss how it is for you today - months, years into sober living. The focus is not on how you got sober, it's how you see and appreciate your life today and how your relationships with people and life itself may have changed.

I am staying at my parent's house this summer and it is in a more remote location. This poses a problem for me to attend the meetings I became accustomed to while living in the city. I decided to search online for a place to connect to others looking for a sober life. Here I am. I see that there has not been a post here in a while so maybe I'm just writing for my own good. Either way I am glad it gives me a place to write whats on my mind, even if it is trivial as saying today has been good for me. I have not had a drink since June of last year and I am enjoying life with a clear mind. Just wondering if anyone else is here or this is a ghost group?

Well Hello! I used to come in here a lot but everyone left. Check the area you are in to see if any of the churches have Overcomers outreach. It is a Christian based 12 step pgm. If you get too squirrelly remember how far you went for your addictions. You can make a run to the closest meeting you can find. I am happy to see a person in this place again. Hello to you Vet and Fishboy. I have been sober since January 23, 2014. I have felt very strong, but lately I have been craving a drink pretty bad. My fiance' is very supportive, but I needed to reach out and submerse myself with others who are in recovery. Have you found helpful resources Vet while you have been at your parent's? I hope you have. I hope you are both doing well in your recovery. Any tips? You think you have beaten it, but then it turns around and wants to beat you. I cannot drink again. Thanks!

Hello Holl01, Best tip I can think of is to go to meetings and talk to your higher power! When you feel like taking a drink or drug pick up the phone and CALL SOMEONE! Do this before picking up! I have seen a lot of folks in recovery blow it because they did not call. Have some real good friends from church who have lost it between 1 and 2 years. I know for me that doing this with my higher power that I choose to call Jesus is a lot easier than doing it without him!

I have been clean for 32 years now and still don't have all the answers. I was given a great piece of advise about 31 years ago that has worked well for me. When I wanted to pickup and told my sponsor he said tom "just don't" I said HUH? He said "Just don't pick up". It worked for me.
