A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
Hey all, since I joined this group I have told the truth every time I had the opprotunity to lie for 21 days. I have seen that active desire for truth help my marraige and give me another chance. I got a book called "the addictive mind" by Darrin Ford and Christy Cosper. I've been treating my habitual lying in the manner of NA or AA as a 12 step program. It has been militant but productive. You are loveable if you don't tell the truth and you are also healable. It might seem tedious but I am watching it heal my relationships. Be honest and take the time to notice the tempation to lie. You are not a bad person.
I've found 'Daring Greatly - How the courage to be vulnerable transforms the way we live, love, parent and lead' by Brene Brown to be really insightful. It's been genuinely informative and has given me an understanding of when and how my behaviours originated, as well as the impact it's had on others.
It's been a difficult read at times, but it's given me an insight I would otherwise have struggled to gain. Embracing vulnerability has been entirely counter-intuitive for me, but I hope to find the courage to continue to do so.
