I am new here and have read some great tips on what to do when I want to lie, and I just wanted to say thank you. Like many of you I have lied for years to everyone about pretty much everything. I’m sure my parents always knew to some extent, but perhaps never really grasped the depth of my deception. My partner however, fully does and has recently been severely wounded twice by my inability to be honest with myself and subsequently, him. I regret every word of every lie I ever spoke, as knowing the truth has caused him this pain and to question everything I’ve ever told him. I dont deserve to be trusted, I know. I’m having a tough time though not berating myself and convincing myself I don’t deserve him. He is hurt deeply and I can’t change that, but I want to prevent future hurt and possibly the end of our relationship since I love him and believe he is my soulmate, so I’m here. I’m here to learn and grow, and hopefully with the help of therapy, to work through and move past this compulsion and the causes behind it, so that he and I can continue building a beautiful life together. I’m a liar and I’d like to lie about it, but I can’t anymore.
