I can relate to what you have said. My lies come from a place of low self worth and through those lies I have portrayed a person who has everything under control but once found out, the damage is even worse.

Funny how something we think of as harmless, a few tiny words we use to protect ourselves and our pride/worth are so impactful and damaging.

Together we can work through this. I know I will struggle, but the thought of being able to talk to people who understand is comforting. I don’t have the answers - only questions. But maybe as we all ask our questions, insight will be gained.

Yeah for me the self worth is a big issue. Potraying someone im not seems to come easy. The lies came easy over time. My military duites seemed to make my self worth even worse. Combat completely changed who i was.

For me, a lot of it is trying to live past the failure I was growing up in my late teens and early 20’s. It became easier to be a poser and give everyone what they wanted to see instead of the real me.

Now that I have done that, I have two sets of lies. One that says to others all is good and those I tell myself that rationalize what I say with these lies.

A lot of mine comes from guilt and shame from some of the stuff i did while I was an active duty Marine.
