Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I am with you both on this - been doing it since I was a kid. It started as a way to make myself look better or get people to like me and then just got worse and worse over the past 30 years. I have lost friends, family, jobs and now my marriage is close to ending because of it. After 8 years of lying to my husband him putting up with it and forgiving me each time - this last one was the kicker. He has put divorce on the table and told me that we have now gotten to a point where he does not believe a word I say and doesn't think that he ever can again. I don't want to lose him - i know he is my soul mate but this addiction is destroying everything.
I joined this group, began praying, keeping a journal, looking at myself in the mirror every day and asking myself "If I lie today, who do I hurt? What will it cause?" And I say it out-loud - I admit the fact that I am a liar and I need to fix it. They aren't full proof solutions, but I have found over the past weeks they have helped somewhat. Whether it's enough to salvage my marriage, I don't know but I'm going to try. We need to support each other in beating this horrible addiction. Stay strong everyone!
