Hi JSwarts90. Admitting you have a problem and taking the first steps (no matter what they may be) are always the hardest parts. Kudos to you for this!

I am finding that it takes a comprehensive plan for me to make any difference in my life around the lying. This group (or really any ONE thing) is good, but I needed more help. So, I'm reading books, checking out other online resources, going to personal therapy, going to couple's counseling with my wife, and checking out some local support groups.

Whatever your path may be, I wish you the best of luck and look forward to supporting one another in community.

Like Tacroy says, a plan to follow is important. I have a 5 step daily plan that I do, and others on this sight have their own versions of plans that help them. I would recommend you read thru some of the replies on the website, and see what some of the answers others have given that help them to see what other plans are out there. Basically you need to decide who and what you want to be and what you have to do to get there, then commit to doing those things every day. Lots of info here on this sight, and like you said, I too think the pro counselors are not much help. I went to 2 of them, and actually one was okay, but the other was a waste of time. Good luck.

I'm right there with you. My fiancé doesn't believe anything I say anymore and it seems like it just comes out before I can stop it....I basically hate myself and I keep trying and failing miserably

I'm the same way my wife no longer trust me and I'm in the same boat my lies have taken over me and I constantly do it even after she finds out the truth it's unhealthy but I know we can stop lying I feel like this group will help us just have to stay positive
