This is my first post I nearly destroyed my life with the woman I love and I can only hope I can get forgiveness from her one day. I need your guys help I want to stop I don't want to lose her or myself to this.

Hi Jlab522,

I just found this site today myself. I'm so sick of telling stupid lies that hurt my marriage. Why the hell do we do this to ourselves?

I read some great information by billi Caine about lying. It was helpful to understand why we lie and gives some insight on how to stop. What was also incredibly helpful was the information she had about the viewpoint of the one being lied to. It definitely helped me to understand my husband's perspective.

This is my first post. Just with in this last week I have lied too much. I really need to stop. It all comes back to me even worst than if I had just told the truth but I am so scared of the consequences. I need to learn how to face the consequences though. Please help me I hate lying but I just do it sometimes, it's not on purpose sometimes I just don't even think I just lie.

You hit a cord with all of us. I found that I had to learn that who I was is good enough. I don't need to "dress up" for anyone. We lie to "protect" what we perceive as our self image that we want others to see. It's ok to be you. Authentic you. Accept yourself. Admit to your short comings and faults. We are human and by definition are not perfect. And do take it one day at a time. Commit to being better today than you were yesterday. I'm Michael and I am a liar.
