Hello I'm new to this I nearly ruined my life with the woman I love I lie compulsively. I want to stop I don't want lose what we have and I may have already I can only hope I can get her forgiveness one day.

Agree!! The fact that you are here says you are taking step one! Showing up committed to making change! I have invested in 12 step program even though I don't drink/drug and it is an awesome personal growth endeavor. And if you want to stop lying then you have to learn to accept you as you are and understand what is driving this behavior. Join the daily check in as well. Congratulations on making the plunge! And it really is one day at a time. Remember you are not a bad person! Lying is a terrible choice. You can change. Keep this all about you. Do this for you. Positive attitude and your partner will notice your growth.

Welcome Jlab422. You have reason to be hopeful. By admitting your have a problem and asking for help, you've already won half the battle.

As I learn to practice being honest one day at I time, trust and intimacy are returning to my marriage faster than I expected.

In addition to visiting this forum, I've also recruited a few safe people with whom I can debrief a few times a week, discuss what's going well and what's not, and ask for accountability. Understanding why I lie (to protect myself from my wife's anger) has also been important. I still catch myself lying to my wife almost every day, but I'm making progress.
