Hi Everyone,

I joined this support group because I have a Lying/withholding information (when asked) problem. It has been a big problem for me in my life and predominantly in my relationships. Last night, I ended up telling the truth to my boyfriend about a situation that I've lied about in the past. I also wasn't honest when the question came up before at different times prior to last night. I am afraid of what he may think of me, or rejecting me, or not loving me anymore when I don't tell him certain things about me from my past or my true inner thoughts. This is not the first time being in a situation where my significant other is officially fed up and has no trust in me at all. I cry all day and hate that I bring this hurt and pain to him, but I don't do it to intentionally hurt him! (Even though it eventually does). I truly want to overcome this ingrained mental and emotional issue that I have. I believe it stemmed from lying as a child to make others happy and to make myself seem like a good girl. I decided today to commit to not tell lies to him or to anyone in general and to let those who I've lied to in the past to tell them the truth for the next 30 days.

To be honest, I am not fully ready to commit because I dread the process of working hard and going through the difficult challenges of getting better. But I know, this is what I need to do if I want to have a happy, long-term relationship..it all starts with me. 

I appreciate those who have posted in the past and after reading your posts and comments, you guys inspired me and gave me the courage to join this support group. It feels better that I am not the only one with this issue and that there are people who have changed and improved themselves so much. Thank you, guys. And to those who just started as well, I hope we can all get better together.
