i'm new to this site, this is the first time i've ever posted anything. i've spent over 50 years of lying, most times with no gain or malevolent motivation and i feel if i don't stop i'm going to die. i don't know how someone seemingly stable has been able to live this life. it's now all come crashing down and my life is in pieces like it's never been. i've hurt everyone i love and i feel like i'm out in the wildernes and i don't know how i'm gonna get back or what will become of my life. i feel so broken right now that every minute is a struggle and my shame is boundless. i didn't realize that putting these words down would be so painful but i need to. i need to do everything that i was never able or willing to do. it's so hard because i feel so hopeless at the same time that i have so much work to do. i'm going to try to find a doctor this week so i can start something, anything because i can't live in this space. i've hurt and disappointed so many people and it doesn't fell like i'll ever get to be normal. thank you all for sharing, i've been so myopic and self-absorbed that i never considered there would be others that would be able to share. i'm just hoping that i can be better.

It is really great that you made this step and came on this platform. All of us will be happy to share and to support you.
Personally, I went through similar issues, and the toughest part was to admit that I am helpless with my compulsory liar problems. Together with a therapist, I managed to go on a path of recovery, and every step on this move was worth doing it.

Frayed is an interesting way of putting it, for sure. Lying really does take your life apart. But wanting to fix it is the first jet, and then taking more steps to figure out how and to follow through will eventually get you in better shape. It took a long time for you to get here, and it'll take a long time to get out of it, but just do it on a day-by-day basis and it will

Thank you both for the support! I called at least 20 drs and finally got a Wed appt. im ready to move in a direction, exhausted and sad. I didn’t realize how exhausting it is watching your life cave in. Told the bigger truth to someone I love dearly and have devastated with my lies. It hurt her badly but she is more concerned about my mental health and support. I dont know how and I feel guilty getting the encouragement but she is pure of heart and loves me. Exactly the opposite of what I am. Hoping I connect with this dr. Can’t waste time. No lies tomorrow

I should add that although she loves me, she is divorcing me.

I’m in the middle of working on a severely damaged marriage because of my lying, but there has been small progress. It’s not easy, it’s really, really hard work but feels better each day you make progress. I just try to make sure I get through one day at a time. Don’t worry about tomorrow and concentrate on not lying today. I’m here like you, you are not alone and this is common. Wishing you all the strength you need.

You are not alone. My marriage is close to done from lying. One day at a time, you can make it through this. Just keep pushing forward, step a little out of your comfort zone every day.
