Right there with you - married 8 years now, unfortunately my lying has been a problem from much time prior to the start of it. I have been lucky enough to be with someone who has been willing to work with it. BUT the most recent one was a slap in the face and realization that I need to find a way to stop or divorce is the next step. My friend what I can say, and the promise I have made to myself and my spouse is that I will do everything and anything to stop it - it won't stop immediately but, if you internally are ready to stop it - it can be done..feel free to message if you'd like to talk
Lying and marriage are two things that don't mix. I can truly attest to that. I have lied to my husband about money and our finances. I lie because I know that I have done something to mismanage our funds so I have to cover up for my mistake. The problem is that the lies continue to multiply over and over and over. I have gotten to the point where I am tired of it. I've decided that I have to first admit that I have an issue which you have done. That's a huge step ;-) My next move was to really seek God and see what His word says about lying and seek Him for healing. It is very difficult but as long as you put for the the effort each day you are moving in the right direction. Hang in there!
I agree - they just multiply more and more to the point that it becomes out of control and the cover ups are lies, Lying, marriage, family and work don't mix. I have burned too many bridges and Im trying to rebuild them. I too have turned to prayer and also the mirror - I pray every morning and every night - and I look at myself in the mirror. Here's what I'm trying - EVERY single statement thats going to come out of your mouth, even if it's a yes or no - picture a mirror and ask yourself is this a lie? If the answer to yourself is yes then say the truth or say nothing. This biggest step is admitting to yourself that you have the problem, stopping it is next - its a very slow process - but it can be done if you are ready to make the effort to do it. Keep the faith!
