Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I lie by omission. For instance, when my wife and I were first separated, I'd tell her I had gone to counseling and was heading back to the house where I was staying. What I didn't mention was that I'd gone to the beach for a short swim right after going to counseling before driving to the house. I did this because I knew she would have been unhappy about my going to the beach.
I lie to cover my ass. I had a problem at work just yesterday with another employee. I was telling my boss about it and my thoughts about it and she asked if I'd told the other employee what I'd just told her. I said yes.
I lie to make impress people with my knowledge. I'll be in a conversation and make up some complete BS statistic, saying I'd read it somewhere, That's one of the self esteem ones.
I lie by agreeing with someone. They'll be talking about something, say cars, and I'll agree with them when they say, "you know what I mean."
I guess those are the easiest to come up with off the top of my head. Like I said at the top though, most of my lies are to boost my self esteem.
For me, I quite often work long hours when things are in a crunch. State law says that after working 12 hours straight the employee must then be paid double time for every hour worked. My company doesn't do that. A few weeks ago I worked a 20 hour shift and they just paid time and a half for the 12 hours I worked past my regular 8 straight hours.
Instead of talking with the person who does payroll about the issue, I add extra time to my timecard to compensate for the underpayment.
It was a very low point in my life, but it was a time of growth. I will never be that person again nor will I allow the lack of love or respect of those in my life be the measure of my worth. I also will not allow lies to be the measure of my own worth for myself. To really see yourself and your life for what it is frees you. I hope you all can free yourself as well. Sending my best to all my fellow DS friends.
