Liars Anonymous Community Group
A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
The biggest fear of all liars is the consequences. But think of it this way... which would be worse? You coming clean? You not saying anything at all about it? Or you getting caught in your lies? You might be thinking that not saying anything is fine... but maybe someone suspects the lie, but they haven't said anything yet, and you know it's eating you up inside. There's nothing you can do about it unless you come clean, because trust me, it's better to tell the truth than for them to find out the truth from someone else. Then you have to work back on gaining the trust of someone and that takes a lot of work.
So for the past, sit someone down, tell them you have some things to get off your chest. Some big, and some small. Tell them to try not to judge or ask too many questions until you are finished, and then tell them everything. Get everything off your chest and don't worry about the consequences. If you just tell them, there might not be any.
And then for the future, the best thing you can do is to tell the truth as soon as possible. If you lie, stop, correct yourself and continue. Even if a moment passes, just correct yourself. If you wanna state that it was a lie, that's good for you to kinda remember "Oh! Yeah! I did good there!", but if not, it's totally fine. You can just say something like, "Well, actually... this happened".
Great quote: "Don't lie, it means you never have to remember what you've said."
Stay strong buddy!
