My name is Brittany I am a recovering liar along with a few other people I have met on here that are really nice and helpful...
1st. you have to want it badly for yourself. Don't limit your getting better and getting past this to only online help. Seek help EVERYWHERE because it can be found everywhere.
My story is on here in a few different places if you would like to read it. Long story short I was lying to the people that care and mean the most to me till I hit my all time low and cheated. With that I seen my destruction and seeing that my boyfriend understands that I had many problems he stayed and is trying to work with me. I hold on to that everyday and will not hurt him like I did before.. I have found this site to be helpful, talking to any and everyone is helpful because it slowly breaks down that wall of being ashamed of who you are... You are not hiding from anyone.
You have to really dig deep and find the root cause for the lying write it down and also pay attention to yourself... there are signs that your body gives off when you are about to lie and feel like lying.. find out what they are and when you identify them watch out for them and stop an take a deep breath before you speak, think about what the truth is and say that no matter what..... believe me you will not get it right every time but it is a start..
It will be hard but you can do it you have a great support system on this site with a lot of great people... read different stories an comment it helps also....
As people will tell you, you need to figure out why it is you lie. To avoid confrontation and conflict? To get your way? To prove you're "right"? To simply hide from the truth? There are many reasons.
But I will confirm what the others have said here... when you're a liar, and you are lying, not only your mind, your body also knows that you have lied. If you slow it down, your body will feel the lie before your mouth can say it, and in that moment, you can have the capacity to say the truth instead.
It takes work, but can be done.
But even above that... you have to be you. You have to love you. You have to want to fix yourself for you, not for someone else. And if that's really the case, then you'll have no use for lying.
Good luck.
I'm John, and I'm a liar.
But like I stated you have to want it for you. Just keep getting on here talking to people and telling your true story. Its easier to be open with strangers 1st if that will help.
