Welcome olddog73. You've taken the first step, admitting your problem. Good for you. Seek professional, one on one counseling if possible. Also, get a journal and write down every time you lie, or even think about lying. You need to learn your triggers. Who you're lying to and what are the circumstances surrounding it.

Just my suggestions. You will probably get other good suggestions here. You have a long road ahead of you and a lot of work. You will have good and bad days. But as long as you are here, you won't be alone. One day at a time...

Hi olddog73, and welcome and congratulations on taking ur first step. I also am going through my significant other not trusting me because of my lying. One thing I have learned is that if she asks me something, no matter how small, if u think ur going to lie, tell her. Tell her I'm going to lie, and then make myself tell her the truth. For both of us this shows that even though I'm not perfect and I am going to stumble, I am trying to get this in the right direction. Also, if she asks me about some I've said in the past, I force myself to tell her I've lied, and tell her the actual truth. The reaction will not be sunshine and roses, but the fact of the matter is I camt expect this to be easy, and I can't expect to keep her if I'm not prepared to go through the pain to get this right.
