A support group to provide those with a compulsive addiction to lie a place to share hope, strength and courage with others like them; solve our common problem and help others with a compulsion to lie. We aren't alone!
I do believe that the 12-step program is one that can be an integral part of recovery from this addiction. I know those that it has worked for in terms of alcohol and also drug addiction. I have been through therapy for this addiction or sickness, whatever you want to call it - and it stopped for a little while but after a little while of my therapy ending it all started up again.
However, I (and this is just my opinion) lying is an addiction that can only be dealt with through an internal acceptance. One of the biggest steps in this process is fully admitting that you have a problem out loud. The second is taking it one day at a time. It's not going to end over night but each day, get up in the morning and acknowledge you have that problem - if you believe in prayer - say a prayer, if not, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, "if I lie today, what and who would it affect? Is it worth it?" And just keep those questions in mind throughout the day. I have slipped here and there, but I have found that the self inflection and realization has helped.
