I would say, start with figuring out who you are, what your good points are, and learn to feel good about yourself. Everyone has things they would like to do better, but making it up or lying about is will never help, only screw things up. But everyone also has things they should feel good about. Work on whatever you wish you were better at, but be comfortable with who you are and don't lie about it. Having said that, I know it's not easy. I'm still working on it.

I can relate to you in the fact that I too lied about myself to seem cool and fit in and seem "all that". Like a big shot. I can tell you, lying does make you feel good... for a little while, until they want you to show it or prove it and then you've got nothing. It's not easy to get out of a lie when you've been caught. It's not fun either. Say the cool kids are talking about all the stuff they did over the summer. They talk about going to the beach or trying new things, and you really didn't do anything super great over the summer, so you wanna say something cool. "I started taking Karate classes!" and then the kids go, "Oh cool! Show us some moves!" You're caught. That's the second best time to admit to your lie, is when you're caught already 30 seconds into it. "Well, actually I didn't, but wouldn't it be cool if I did? I actually just did..... over the summer" and fill that with whatever you really did. Now that's not the prime example of a good teacher. But the best time to admit to a lie is as soon as you can before anything else comes out. That means RIGHT then. If you tell a lie, correct it then and there. Don't try and play it off or make it keep going as long as you can. Start becoming the best you can be, and see how good it feels to have a clean slate and be telling the truth. Then you have nothing to hide.

Here a good quote I want to explain and then I'm done: "Don't lie, it means you never have to remember what you've said." If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember what you told them you are. You've told them you. And you don't need to think about it. People may not like what you have to say all the time, but that doesn't mean it didn't inspire someone. Someone will see you for who you are and see how honest you can be. Maybe it'll be your teacher, or your parents. If you're scared of what people will think when you tell them the truth, don't be (easy to say, hard to do, I know). Just take a deep breathe, and it's not as bad as it seems. People will still like you for who you are. And you should be comfortable with that too. Everyone goes through the process of finding who they are. You just went your own way, and there's nothing wrong with that, you just have to make sure you make it right and find the real you.
