for any of you on "high risk" ie: the only you can get because of pre-existing conditions- insurance.
here is my story from Oregon.
so called "high risk" insurance providers have been made illegal. the one i was on, at a healthy premium, sent me a letter awhile back saying that due to the new national healthcare(they actually said 'Obamacare") they would "cease to exist" as of 12:01 A.M. Jan 1 2014.
in the mean time(this company was paying for my meds and injections) the oregon health plan(OHP)
"qualified me.........on their own.
away goes my insurance, as part of their own rules were that i not meet qualification standards for any other insurance..
i'm 51 years old.
i've had health insurance since i was 18.
i have NEVER qualified for OHP..........NEVER!!!
then....all of a sudden .when Obama Clause comes round with federal dollars for govt. insurance signups.......BAMMO......tod qualifies.
now.....i've got fucking government fucking insurance that wont fucking pay for the injections that alloweed me three hours of sleep a nite.
they wont fucking pay for the morphine that allows me some of the time i DO get off the fucking ground.
turns out there is nothing i can do but call OHP customer relations and explain my case and see if they will do(like they claim to) a "continuation of coverage'........youknow......gimme the same amount of coverage that they hijacked me off of.
i told the lady i felt hijacked..........she said"yes, i'm very sorry about your position(and she really was i think..she's just "qualification")..the system does need some work".
she didn't have much to say when i told her that denial of my meds could kill me. i re-iterate.....she was genuine.....and concerned............but HELPLESS to do me any good.
tomorrow, hopefully i will know more.
just a heads-up.
Pelosi said"we'll have to pass the bill before we know what's in it"
Rush Limbaugh said . this bill will kill people.
looks like finally the far left and the far right............both fuckin nailed it.
CALL your insurance company.........please.....ask them exactly how the new health care is going to affect YOU....PERSONALLY...have em be lookin at your policy when you talk to em. make sure you find out what happens to you AFTER 2013.

Will your doctor all for you? My primary doctor has gone two separate rounds for me with my insurance company in regards to my meds. He has won both times. I'm not sure if you have both a primary and a pain specialist if you do call them both.
Often times it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!
Please keep us up to date on this if your comfortable to do so....as always you're in my prayers my friend.

the first lady fron OHP that told me to call the OTHER people from OHP said to make a point of "continuing coverage" because that , as you remember was a bigtime claim"you wont lose any thing you are recieveing now"..........they can tell that to my family if sudden lack of a third of my "continuing service" triggers a catastrophic cardiac event from uncontrolled pain....plus withdrawal.
i honestly know this will work for the best.........i love the lord and he promised me that, as you know.
he also said 'BE angry......but don't sin"..............i'm REALLYREALLYANGRY. and if i stay out of assault distance of some of these folks....chances are i wont sin either :)

but people really DO need to get with their providers NOW and check their personal situations and get(in writing if possible0 the changes or non that they are lookin at.
i went lookin for it when i was a young man and i've NEVER been fucked this hard and this fast.

Last Friday, my doctor, of 20 years, said he didn't want to prescribe even the smallest amount of pain medicine to me. I was floored. I thought he understood my pain. I feel completely abandoned by him. I really don't want to see another doctor. I'm so tired of it all. It's so hard to fight when you feel so crappy just to have a glimpse of semi normal. I wish I could stop taking all my medications and be done with it.
I'm here Big Dog! Expect a call today.

I don't know what to say, but.... with respect....... I am just so grateful ..... I don't live in the States....
Absolute dumb ass system, where an insurance company can override / dictate the individuals welfare and health needs, above and over the recommendations of the health professionals..... Disgraceful....
So hope you can navigate your way through this my friend and get the treatments you need... sigh... just to exist...

Seek you are very right, it's a fucked up thing indeed when doctors aren't practicing medicine anymore because the insurance companies run the show!
I'm blessed each day I get the care and the medications I need. I pray it continues as such, but sometimes I just wish I would have turned to alcohol instead of asking for opioids. There will always be alcohol! Right?
Or should we all get our pot license?? They are approving it in more and more states. Seems its easier that getting prescription medicine.
Anyone have a card? I had the option but I was afraid people would think poorly of me. Wouldn't take my pain, or me serious.
My doctor said he'd sign for a card if I wanted but it limited the amount of care he would give him. It this point I'm sticking to my rx's but I'm glad to know that as of now I have choices. Well as long as Michigan doesn't repeal the bill.
Hippy....at first I thought you had to smoke it like the regular stuff and I didn't want nothing to do with it. It was too hard to quit smoking cigarettes! I'm not trying nothing that gets me thinking about smoking again:-) but I did learn it can come in pills, or in foods. Like brownies.....that just made me laugh:-)
It can be used as an herb in your pasta or rice or cooked in to any of your favorite foods. I doesn't take alot to help.
Further they have many different strains that are tailored for specific problems not like your run of the mill stuff that can give you unwanted side effects (ie stupor)
Benefit for me from MMJ pain relief , no stomach effects like with opiods helps me sleep, enlightens my mood allows me to concentrate.
Some strains can help people who have a had time with their appetite and some have very little munchies effect.
t Obama care means more DEA and Fed intervention into your life, restricting medical ethics for what the Feds think is good for you.

Do you feel it harms your credibility from doctors....nurses, etc.
Well Deb and all I gave up on Dr.s treating my pain. They had no answers ... the opoids had too many effects and did not work that well anyway and the other Drs , the impression i got was they thought i was only seeking drugs. .
I told my Dr. at the VA i was taking care of pain on my own with MMJ. He said OK we will take on the other things. Like high blood pressure and your thyroid
Well i had blood work done and no problems with thyroid now but blood pressure is better when i don't take the meds he prescribed.
It takes away the pain fast with in minutes and lasts for hours. And no opoid like side effects, no stomach problems, no pain spiking when it wears off.
I really wish you all could try it and see if it can give you relief too.
