Doctors love to prescribe meds. Prescription medication is a big industry. As we grow older, more and more things come to light that we didn't know existed. As long as it isn't terminal, don't worry about it. I have found lots of homeopathic meds in the health food stores that are more effective in some cases than the over the counter stuff. I try to stay calm because if I worry or stress too much than my diabetes gets worst.

I have sleep apnea- but I hate the mask and don't wear it. I feel like I am sufficating when I do.

i too have sleep apnea Are the masks that bad because i'll probably be getting one?

I have had sleep apnea(diagnosed) for going on three years now and have been using a CPAP/mask for two years. It took a long time to get use to it. I found laying on my side worked better than laying on my back. You can buy a special pillow that has a "channel" in it to facilitate the masks protrusion. It does feel like your suffocating in the beginning but after time you should adjust. My problem is I'm Bi-Polar and if I don't sleep properly I go manic easily.

I hear you big time on not sleeping properly and getting manic. I am bipolar also and lack of sleep causes me all sorts of issues. I have to use my cpap machine at night every night.

The best advice I can give on a mask is to ask your doctor if you could have a different type of mask if one type does not work for you. For instance I use nasal pillows rather than a full face mask. I can't use a full face mask it makes me feel like I am smothering so my doctor said I could try the nasal pillows. Go to a site that sells cpap stuff and have a look at what is available these days as far as masks are concerned. I'm about ready to get a new mask and this is what I have done so now I know what I want and my doctor just needs to ok it.

Would anyone like info from NaturalCures.com on sleep disorders? I have used NC to cure glaucoma, high blood pressure, obesity, and my allergies are much better. I am a member of NS and can forward any info that they publish. They talk about alot more than using a mask.

Sorry to hear about your sleep apnea. My Best Friend's Husband has that as well. Have you joined the Sleep Apnea Support Group, here? I have not been diagnosed with anything recently, but my Hidradenitis has planted itself on the right side of my groin, now so I have to keep Both sides covered...makes me want to scream. I hope you feel better soon. ((HUGS))

PS My EEG was normal even though I had 2 seizures during the end of the test. What's up with that? So no diagnosis of epilepsy for now, but I'm sure it will be coming soon. I mean, I'm thankful for having a clear EEG, yet some kind of a tag would make the docs wake-up and maybe explain the sleep disturbances, the "space outs" and narcoleptic-like sessions, the involuntary eye rolling and grinding of the teeth. I feel like I'm invisible to the docs. LOL Maybe I should make me a power ranger suit with a big "I" on my chest and show up at the docs office in it. Think they'd take me seriously then? Even if I carried a light sabre? ;-)
